After 12 years of existence, the TYH Foundation made a decision in 2015 to file papers to become federally tax-exempt. This was no small task and was done to ensure the long term impact Tim would have made on the world can still occur through the work of this Foundation. This decision has brought a renewed focus, rigor and vigor to the Foundation to create positive change in the world.
Over these past 12 years, the Foundation has made an impact in the lives of many- all across the world in many different arenas. This is still the Foundation’s goal.
However, now that we have a formal structure and federal tax-exempt status, the strategy we are pursuing over the course of 2016 is to:
- Re-engage the community
- Build a series of events and partnerships that can ensure the Foundation’s ability to create change into the future
With so many opportunities everywhere for us to bring courage and compassion to communities, it is easy to fall victim to trying to do too much. Our mission is set. We know what we’re about. We have a history of success in positively impacting lives.
What we are going to accomplish in 2016 and beyond is to build a secure financial base and operational model to ensure that we have the means to make BIG impacts.
As much as I wish it weren’t true, it’s the reality of life in the nonprofit sector. Without financial stability, the Foundation cannot ensure it has the means to make the type of impact we all aspire to make – not only this year or next, but five, ten, twenty years down the road.
Our goal for 2016 is to build a series of events that are engaging for any and all who wish to come out, support the Foundation and Tim’s legacy and most importantly, have fun.
That’s what life, and this Foundation is all about.
We look forward to seeing you out at our events this year and always welcome any feedback or ideas you may have.
