The Timothy Yates Heggen Scholarship Fund was created to honor the memory of Tim Heggen by recognizing high school students who demonstrate the kind 
of compassion, caring, and concern for others that Tim demonstrated in his daily life. The recipient must be a student who has demonstrated one or more of the following:
- A commitment to creating a more caring, inclusive community.
- Goals consistent with a humanitarian world view.
- Courage when faced with adversity.
Scholarships are in the amount of $300 and are open to high school seniors in the Greater Des Moines area seeking higher education at a two or four year college or vocational training.
